A home game against a young Sacramento team with an interim head coach is practically a must win game for Houston's playoff chances.

Jan 13, 2012 - After a tough 101-95 overtime loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, the Houston Rockets will try to rebound against the Sacramento Kings on Friday.

Former Rocket Chuck Hayes is the Kings normal starting power forward, but he's missed the last three games with a dislocated shoulder.

Sacramento, at 4-7, is actually ahead of Houston in the Western Conference standings, even though they just fired head coach Paul Westphal.

Westphal's dismissal appears to have ignited a young Kings team, in particular enigmatic center DeMarcus Cousins, who has averaged 18.3 points and 13.5 rebounds in four games under interim coach Keith Smart.

Cousins' ability to score from the low post will be a challenge for Houston's interior defense, while 6'6 combo guard Tyreke Evans will be a challenge for whichever Rocket perimeter player defends him.

Sacramento, like most young teams, doesn't play much defense, so Kyle Lowry, Kevin Martin and Luis Scola could all have big games.

Sitting at 3-7 with a home game against the Portland Trail Blazers, one of the most impressive teams in the NBA this year, on Saturday, Houston needs their veterans to come through at home in an almost must win early season game.

The 7:00 PM game will be televised regionally on Fox Sports Houston.

The Dream Shake has the most in-depth coverage of the Rockets anywhere on the internet, while Sactown Royalty is a one-stop shop for everything Kings related.
