Depth check: Houston Texans - ESPN (blog)

I’ve been pondering depth in the AFC South, and thought as we await the start of training camps we should look at what position groups compose the deep end, and which compose the shallow end on each roster.

Next up is Houston...

Deepest: Running back is awfully good with Arian Foster, Ben Tate and Justin Forsett. But I’ll go with outside linebacker. Connor Barwin and Brooks Reed should be super again as the starters in a swarming defense. They can play a bit less because first-rounder Whitney Mercilus should be in the rotation as the third guy. They love athletic, feisty second-year man Bryan Braman as well.

Thinnest: This is a solid roster. We don’t know about the right side of the offensive line, but they have options. I’ll look, instead , to receiver, primarily because they’re relying on at least one unproven guy to emerge. After Andre Johnson, Kevin Walter is reliable but not explosive. Can DeVier Posey, Keshawn Martin or Lestar Jean emerge to become a threat? If not, depth here will be a question for sure.
