Jeremy Lin returns to Madison Square Garden on Dec. 17, when NY Knicks host ... - New York Daily News

Jeremy Lin and Houston Rockets will wear their road uniforms at the Garden on Dec. 17.

Linsanity will return to the Garden on Dec. 17, and a month later, they will get a taste of Londsanity.

Lin and the Rockets will visit the Knicks on Dec. 17 and a month later, the Knicks will take on the Pistons in Detroit.

While that should be an international event, Lin’s first visit will certainly be the most hyped game of the year.

Lin’s first game in New York â€" which follows a Nov. 23 Rockets-Knicks matchup in Houston â€" will be as big, if not bigger, than the Knicks’ home opener on Nov. 2 against the Heat

For Christmas, however, the Garden will get coal in its stocking.

The Nets, not the Knicks, host a nationally-televised game in their new arena on Dec. 25 against the Celtics. The Knicks, who hosted the Celtics last year on Christmas, play at the Staples Center against Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in another high profile game that day.

Also, the Knicks’ season opener is against the Nets at the $1 billion Barclays Center.

Nets CEO Brett Yormark told the Daily News Thursday that he requested the matchup, despite the threat of Knicks fans overrunning the arena, because “we wanted the most dramatic game possible to introduce our new team.

“We asked the league to give us the most dramatic game to open the season. I was obviously for playing the Knicks and thankfully the league felt the same way.

“We are going to have a homecourt advantage in Brooklyn. And we’ll experience that on opening night.”

The Nets, who didn’t play a game last season on either ESPN or TNT, will play a combined 12 games on those stations.

The Nets open with six of eight games at home, including against Dwight Howard and the Magic on Nov. 11.

For the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony returns to Denver on March 13 for the first time since he was traded from the Nuggets in February of 2011.

The Knicks and Nets also face off on Martin Luther King’s Day at the Garden.
