Houston Rockets Player Rankings: ESPN Ranks Royce White #290 - Space City Scoop

It’s not surprising to see ESPN rank Royce number 290 out of 500 players. Personally i think he’s underrated even though he has yet to step foot on an NBA court. Especially when they rank Derek Fisher at 288. Come on ESPN, who are you trying to fool? Derek is less than half the player he use to be. Royce would run laps around Fisher until he retired.

ESPN.com and the TrueHoop Network are ranking every NBA player â€" and counting them down on Twitter (@NBAonESPN), from number 500 to number 1. As the rankings are announced, you can also find them on ESPN.com. ESPN asked 104 experts to rate each player on a 0-10 scale.

Royce White is one of those high risk, high reward type of players. He could be the next LeBron James, or at least something close to it. Or he can be the next Clarence Weatherspoon, and never live up to the hype that is starting to surround him.

It’s no secret that White has had some off the court issues and continues to struggle with anxiety. I’m one of the few that isn’t worried about it. Royce is a different person going down the right path in life. Even if he doesn’t succeed in the NBA, White will continue to be a very unique person and go on to do great things in another profession. Maybe music? Poetry? This kid is talented beyond belief. People in Houston are starting to compare him to Arian Foster due to how unique he is on and off the court.

White dominated at Iowa State. So much that on almost every possession the ball was in his hands, and more times than not he made the right play. He’s just as unique on the court as he is off. It’s hard to say what position he is, so i’ll give him the LeBron position, point forward. He has the ball handling and passing skills you see from top point guards in the league, but he has a wide body and strength you see from a power forward. He has the speed of a guy you would see playing the small forward position. He’s confusing for people to figure out, just imagine how he can be for defenders.

He may be ranked number 290 now, but i wouldn’t be surprised if he jumped into the top 100 after just one season. He has the talent to do it. He just needs the playing time and experience to go with it.
