HOUSTON (CBS Houston) â" While the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest with a ticket toHawaiiincluded, the All-Pro team is a better measure of a playerâs true value. This yearâs All-Pro voting gives the Texans a little more respect but, despite several outstanding individual seasons, the Texans still havenât cracked into the elite.Â
In balloting released by the Associated Press today, no Texans made the All-Pro team, although Johnathan Joseph and Brian Cushing narrowly missed. And several other players had more than respectable showings in the balloting of 50 national media members.Â
Joseph was edged out by just one vote, finishing behind the Jetsâ Darrelle Revis and Packers cornerback Charles Woodson.
Cushing, who enjoyed his best season yet, missed making the All-Pro team by just three votes. The 49ers Patrick Willis received the most votes at inside linebacker, while his teammate NaVorro Bowman and the Chiefsâ Derrick Johnson finished tied for second.
The Texans line, which paved the way for the leagueâs 2nd best rushing offense, was well represented in this yearâs balloting. Duane Brown finished third in the voting at offensive tackle, trailing only Philaelphiaâs Jason Peters andClevelandâs Joe Thomas. Eric Winston was fifth in the voting at tackle. And Chris Myers finished fourth in the voting at center.
The Texans had two All-Pro players last season, despite finishing 6-10. Arian Foster led the voting at running back and Vonta Leach was voted the All-Pro fullback in 2010. Leach made the team again as a Raven this year. Foster finished fourth at running back behindJacksonvilleâs Maurice Jones-Drew, the Eaglesâ LeSean McCoy and Ravens running back Ray Rice.
