HOUSTON (CBS Houston) â€" Astros legend Jeff Bagwell is getting closer to Cooperstown, but still comes up short in this year’s balloting.

Bagwell, in his second year on the ballot, was named on 56 percent of the Baseball Writers Association of America ballots, leaving him just short of the 75 percent needed for induction.  Bagwell received 41.7 percent of the vote last year, his first year of eligibility.

Barry Larkin and Ron Santo are the only members of this year’s class.  The Reds shortstop was named on 86 percent of the ballots.  Santo, the late Cubs thirdbaseman, was elected by the Veterans Committee in December.
