Mario Williams looks to become a free agent after the 2012 season, will the Houston Texans step up to the plate and sign him long term?
Jan 18, 2012 - The Houston Texans went down fighting versus the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round of the AFC Playoffs, and now that the dust has settled and the season is finally over there's no time like the present to begin thinking about the 2012 season.
Its interesting to think how much success the Texans had when you take into consideration that they were without their starting quarterback (Matt Schaub), backup quarterback (Matt Leinart), star wide receiver (Andre Johnson) and their best defensive player (Mario Williams) for extended lengths of time.
For Williams, his season ended on a bit of a sour note, as free agency looms in his future after the 2012 season. Thus, the Texans have come out and proclaimed the following:
You can talk that talk, or you can walk that walk. Williams begrudgingly moved over to outside linebacker courtesy of Wade Phillips, as he sought to turn Williams into the next version of Demarcus Ware. While Williams struggled at times, there's no doubt that he is the most talented player on that defense. Now its the Texans turn to decide whether he's worth the boatloads of money that he'll soon get, one way or the other.
