Houston Rockets point guard Kyle Lowry faces a misdemeanor battery charge after prosecutors say he tossed a basketball at a female referee during a game over the summer.
According to the warrant, Lowry was playing with other NBA players at an exhibition game in Las Vegas on Sept. 22.
Lowry approached Infini Robinson, one of the referees at the game, and threw a basketball at her which hit her in the chest, according to the warrant.
After she tossed the ball back to Lowry, he threatened her and told her to meet him outside.
The warrant also states that Lowry apologized afterwards, telling Robinson that his emotions got the best of him.
The Rockets issued a statement through General Manager Daryl Morey, saying, "We are aware that a complaint has been filed in Las Vegas against Kyle. We will work to get clarity on the situation. As this is a legal matter, we will not comment further."
Lowry has been issued a summons to appear before the Las Vegas justice court on February 2.
