Texans' Myers, Smith added to 2012 AFC Pro Bowl team

HOUSTON â"Texans center Chris Myers and defensive end Antonio Smith were added to the 2012 AFC Pro Bowl roster on Thursday as injury fill-ins.
It will be the first Pro Bowl appearance for both Myers and Smith, who will join cornerback  Johnathan Joseph as Texan representatives on the AFC roster for the NFLâs all-star event in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The game will be held Sunday, January 29 at 6 p.m. local time.
Myers is the first offensive lineman in franchise history to earn a trip to the Pro Bowl. The seventh-year veteran started all 18 regular season and playoff games for Houstonâs second-ranked rushing offense. He is replacing Pittsburgh center Maurkice Pouncey, who is not playing due to injury.
Smith, who will be replace New Englandâs Andre Carter, had the best season of his career for the Texansâ second-ranked defense. Smith recorded sacks in each of the first five games of the season and finished with a career-high 6.5 sacks, ranking second on the team. An eight-year veteran, Smith totaled 25 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 16 quarterback hits, three passes defended and a forced fumble for a defense that allowed 285.7 yards per game and set a franchise record with 44 sacks.
Both Myers and Smith served as captains for the 2011 season.
The AFC squad will be quad will be led by Texans head coach Gary Kubiak and his staff.
