Internet prognostications aren't worth the paper they are printed on.
Of course, they cost about as much to write as they are worth, and that means everyone has one.
When it comes to the AFC South, it's difficult, if not impossible, to find anyone with a keyboard that doesn't have the Houston Texans winning the division.
Today's article of the day is really any one of several preseason prediction pieces that has the Texans coming out on top in the South. Whether it's Dennis Dillon of Sports Illustrated or every writer ESPN can manage to muster, the world is in universal agreement that the Texans are going to the playoffs.
I have yet to see anyone, anywhere predict anyone but the Texans to come out of the South, and that includes me.
The total unanimity of thought has the by-product of making the Texans seem more invincible than they are. It's not that it's metaphysically impossible for someone else to win the South, it's just that it's not probable.
Houston has the fewest flaws and the most strengths of any team in the division, and even in a doomsday scenario involving multiple trips to the IR for key Texans, they are still likely to be in the thick of what may be the worst division in football.
Having the pole position doesn't guarantee the Texans will win the race, but it certainly bodes well for them.
