KANSAS CITY, Missouriâ"The Houston Dynamo took forward Colin Rolfe 18th overall in the first round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft Thursday afternoon in Kansas City.
Rolfe, a two-time All-Big East Conference First Team selection for the University of Louisville, scored 33 goals and added 21 assists in 87 career collegiate appearances for the Cardinals. He was named M.A.C. Hermann Trophy finalist in 2010 after leading Louisville to a Big East conference championship and the College Cup final.
âColin Rolfe was a player we liked heading into the draft,â head coach Dominic Kinnear said. âHe also fills what we considered a position of need. With regard to Warren, I thought he had a very good combine. I look forward to seeing him in camp and seeing him with the guys.â
The Dynamo then selected University of Central Florida midfielder Warren Creavalle with the No. 37 overall selection in the second round.
Creavalle, a two-time All-Conference USA First Team selection, scored five goals in two seasons at the University of Central Florida. The 21-year-old from Acworth, Georgia, began his collegiate career at Furman University and played 36 games over two seasons before transferring to UCF.
