HOUSTON â" A pastor is auctioning his tickets to the next playoff game with the Houston Texans and he says the proceeds are going to a good cause.
Father Stan De Boe is pastor at Our Lady of Sorrows in Victoria. He is a football season ticket holder for more than 20 yearsâ"he is just passionate about the wrong team: The Ravens. The evidence of his passion shares space on the walls and bookshelves with his calling.
âOnly the big boys get to play in January and here we are,â he said.
Father Stanâs seats in Baltimore are dead center 40 rows up.
âIt can be raining, snowing, whatever and we are dry. They are great seats,â he said.
For years Father Stan served in Baltimore traveling the world. Now heâs in Texas, but ready to travel again.
âWe are up to $1,400 now,â he said referring to the bid Tuesday.
All of the proceeds are being donated to the church.
The bid is to join Father Stan with one ticket to the game, airfare, transportation, and a place to stay.
Donât expect a wild party though.
âThey are staying at one of our houses with a couple of other priests. It is right by the stadium,â he said.
Youâll probably need an evening of reflection anyway. In the stadium youâll definitely be out manned by 70,000 Ravenâs fans.
You donât want to be out faithedâ"you just want to send Father Stan home to his parish living up to its name: Our lady of Sorrows.
