College Football Rankings: Houston Cougars Land At No. 18 In Final AP Poll

Another jam-packed NCAA football season has come and gone, culminating in a BCS National Championship for the Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday night. Following the game is the inevitable Tuesday morning with the final polls and standings for the year, the last such rankings that college football fans will be seeing for months.

Courtesy of Sports Illustrated comes the final AP poll of the season. The Houston Cougars did not fare quite as well in the AP poll as they did in the final Coaches Poll of the season, but they still placed in the top 20. The Cougars ultimately ranked as the No. 18 team in college football according to the Associated Press, jumping up from No. 20 in the previous poll. Their win in the TicketCity Bowl and their 13-1 final record look mighty fine next to that No. 18 ranking.

Missing out on the Top 25 were the Texas Longhorns, who received just 15 votes in the poll.
