Elway’s Advice For Tebow Pays Off

It was Tebow time once again Sunday afternoon, as the Broncos stifled the Steelers in overtime, 29-23.

Former Bronco quarterback and Hall-of-Famer John Elway told reporters this past week he wanted Tim Tebow to put everything that had gone array behind him the past couple of weekends and “pull the trigger”.

That’s exactly what Tebow did Sunday afternoon. With the help of maybe the best performance on the season by the Bronco’s offensive line (allowed 0 sacks and 0 QB hits) Tebow delivered an absolute strike to Demaryius Thomas in OT who beat CB Ike Taylor and laid a mean stiff-arm on him for an 80-yard TD to send the Broncos to the divisional round, in which they’ll face the Patriots Saturday evening in Foxboro.

Tebow delivered the best performance of his young career, tossing 2 TD’s and running for anther, while completing 10 of his 21 pass attempts for a career-high 316 yards.

Who knows how Tebow and the Bronco’s season will end. Many had it ending this past Sunday afternoon to Big Ben and the Steelers, including myself.

There will always be critics, and for Tebow, there will always be the people who say ‘you can’t do it’ or ‘you don’t belong in the playoffs’. For the Bengals, who were thrashed by the Texans defense on Saturday afternoon, it may have not been more true, they had no business being in the playoffs. However, for the Bronco’s and Tim Tebow, they live to play another week.

None of the criticism matters now, it never did for the Broncos and Tim Tebow. Many may be of the opinion, that no matter what happens from here on out for Denver, it’ll be icing on the cake.

It’s fine if you believe that, but big time players make big time plays. For Tim Tebow, his outstanding offensive line and the rest of the Bronco’s, they’ll have their shot to pull off one of the biggest upsets in Foxboro Sunday night.
