HOUSTON - Despite news reports and fan websites that said otherwise, the agent for receiver/punt returner Jacoby Jones, Kennard McGuire, told FOX 26 Sports that his client was never in any danger  Sunday night.

McGuire said he did hear fans threaten Jones during telephone calls to local radio stations, but nothing beyond that.

However, McGuire took no chances.

"As his adviser I took it upon myself to make sure that there was someone in position to be around him and insure that it was always a safe environment," McGuire said.

"I took it upon myself just to have someone tail him and he didn't even know it."

McGuire said Jones did not personally report any threats made against him.

"I can only go off the fact that what was stated on the radio," McGuire said.

"All from the standpoint of people calling in on the radio making their statements of what they wanted to do. That's all I can attest to.

"He's fine. As matter of fact he's at home right now watching television."

McGuire also said reports of fans burning Jones' jerseys in the players' front yard were false.

Jones fumbled during a punt return early in the first quarter of the Texan's 20-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in the AFC divisonal playoffs.

The turnover led to the first of the Ravens' two touchdowns.

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said there is no excuse for Jones' mistake, but he never considered pulling him from the punt return team.
