Kyle Lowry Charged With Misdemeanor Battery

Uh-oh. If this Rockets season couldn't get any crazier, their emerging leader at point guard Kyle Lowry was charged with misdemeanor battery in Las Vegas for throwing a basketball at a referee back in September.

Honestly, this sounds serious yet not serious. He didn't hit her, though he did throw the basketball in anger and the threatening remarks afterwards color the actions differently. But, Lowry is also a pretty high-profile individual, which may be why he was charged in the first place.

Seriously, doesn't this sound like something that's happened on pickup courts all the time? I wonder how many times this has happened in the past and how many cases get charged. Oh, that's right. Only the ones involving NBA players.

Again, I'm not trying to trivialize this case. What Lowry did was wrong and he should have known better. I just find it hard to believe that he'll serve any time over it, even if the maximum sentence is six months in jail.
