The 2012 Olympic marathon trials was held in Houston this Saturday morning and the female winner was Shalane Flanagan who set an Olympic trials record to finish with a time of 2:25:37. The second and third place winners were Desi Davila and Kara Goucher. Davila finished just over two seconds behind Flanagan. Fourth place finisher Amy Hastings will be an alternate for if either of these three are not able to attend.
These three have now qualified for the 2012 London Olympics in August, and it will be the Olympic debut for all three runners in the marathon. Flanagan did compete in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and raced in the 10K and finished in 10th place.
The women's marathon for the 2012 London Olympic Games will be held on Aug. 5.
