The BCS National Champion was crowned on Monday night. As the Alabama Crimson Tide hoisted the trophy, the NCAA football season came to an end. The morning after that championship game, the last official college football rankings are coming out. The Big 12 was represented in the final USA Coaches Poll of the season, with the Houston Cougars finding their way into that last Top 25.
Houston slotted in at No. 14 overall, behind fellow Texas teams the Baylor Bears and the TCU Horned Frogs, who placed at Nos. 12 and 13, respectively. Houston's surprising season came complete with a bowl game victory, so it's nice to see them ranked accordingly.
Both the Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies received votes in the Coaches Poll. The Longhorns picked up 29 votes, while the Aggies received just five.
The Big 12 also appeared on the final poll in the form of the Oklahoma St. Cowboys, placed at the expected No. 3 slot after knocking off the Stanford Cardinal in the Fiesta Bowl.
