The Astros and the Rangers meet for game two of The Battle of the Lone Star State.

The Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers meet for meet on Saturday for game two of their interleague battle of the Lone Star State.

The Houston Astros are very much an improved team this year but they were reminded once again on Friday they still have plenty of room to grow. On Friday Jed Lowrie had a hit and drove in a run, Jordan Schafer had a hit, and Chris Johnson had a hit as the Astros scored just one run on four hits. On the mound Wandy Rodriguez allowed 10 hits and three runs to take his fourth loss of the year. For Saturday’s rematch Houston Starts Lucas Harrell who has lost three of his last four decisions. For the season Harrell has allowed 46 hits and 22 earned runs while striking out 22 over 45 innings for a 4.40 ERA.

The Texas Rangers once again flexed their muscle as they powered their way past the Astros on Friday. Adrian Beltre had two hits including a solo home run, Ian Kinsler had three hits, and Michael Young had two hits as the Rangers scored four time son 11 hits in all. On the mound Neftali Feliz allowed three hits and a run while striking out six over 4.2 innings to not factor in the decision as Robbie Ross earned his fifth win and Joe Nathan earned his ninth save. For Saturday’s game Texas starts Derek Holland who last worked in relief. For the season Holland has allowed 40 hits and 20 earned runs while striking out 40 over 47.2 innings of work for a 3.78 ERA.

Houston is 21-47 in their last 68 interleague games. 8-21 in their last 29 games against the A.L. West, and 1-6 in Harrell’s last seven starts. Texas is 10-2 in their last 12 road games against a team with a winning home record, 14-6 in their last 20 road games, and 19-7 in Holland’s last 26 starts. Texas has won nine of their last 10 games in Houston.

The total in this one is set at nine and I have this one going over. I also have a play on the winner of this one and I will post it in the Premium Area.
