Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing had an MRI on his knee after it bothered him some during offseason workouts, the team said in a statement, according to a report by Pro Football Talk‘s Mike Florio.

“No, just his knee got sore on him; and I’m going to err on that side this time of year, so we sent him down for an MRI,” Houston coach Gary Kubiak said, via comments distributed by the team.  ”He did come out and watch practice, and it gives some other guys a chance to get some reps.”

Cushing was the NFL’s defensive rookie of the year in 2009. He was suspended for four games the following season after testing positive for steroids. He has never missed a game because of injury.
