Houston Astros Vs. Cincinnati Reds 8/31/12: Tyrone's Free MLB Baseball Pick - Sports Chat Place

Not again. It's the Major League Baseball-leading 80-52 Cincinnati Reds visiting the 40-91 Houston Astros who come off being swept in three games at Minute Maid Park by the 74-57 San Francisco Giants.

SF came back from 4-0 after three innings to dump Houston another time at Minute Maid 8-4. The Astros sprang in two runs during the bottom of the first on Jason Castro's double and Jimmy Paredes' single. Houston housed two more runs on Brian Bogusevic's sacrifice fly and Tyler Greene's home run.

Cincinnati swept the skidding 64-67 Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 Wednesday rallying from two runs down with a pair of three-run innings. During the top of the seventh Chris Heisey tied the game up with a HR. Heisey homered again during the top of the eighth as did Dioner Navarro and Brandon Phillips to compile all of the Reds' runs.

6-8 Mike Leake with a 4.51 ERA throws next for Cincinatti trying to keep the Reds' win count climbing while adding to the Astros' losses. Houston is just 21-for-70 with eight RBIs, half from Justin Maxwell's and Chris Snyder's bats, versus Leake. Cincinnati is 5-6 when Leake unleashes on the road. Leake's away wins have come at the Astros twice and Giants giving up four runs during 24 innings. In Leake's road losses the 50-80 Chicago Cubs, 70-61 Los Angeles Dodgers, 62-69 Philadelphia Phillies and 70-60 Pittsburgh Pirates supplied 18 runs, 17 earned, during 24 innings.

Houston's 0-1 Fernando Abad with a 3.62 ERA just makes his second start on Friday this year. Abad let in a run during four innings on Aug. 25 at the 61-70 New York Mets to take a 3-1 loss. In two games prior he pitched in the Reds registered three hits and no runs during 1.1 innings of two Astros home losses. In Cincinnati on April 27 the Reds rolled in two runs during 0.1 innings on Abad. The Astros are 9-7 this season when Abad throws at Minute Maid Park. The Reds are 7-for-24 with six RBIs, two Jay Bruce's, against Abad. It's easy to take Cincinnati so I'll go tiny on Houston shocking the world.
