HOUSTON â" Hundreds of fans greeted the returning Houston Texans late Sunday outside Reliant Stadium following the football teamâs crushing defeat in the second round of the NFL playoffs.
The teamâs buses pulled into the Reliant lot just after 10 p.m., after some fans had waited hours to catch a glimpse of their favorite players.
Some fans were upset that the Reliant property hadnât been opened earlier for the homecoming. But once the players arrived, spectators were allowed into the lot as the team drove away.
Earlier in the day, fans expressed disappointment at the loss, but support for a team that had won its first playoff game in franchise history the week before.
"A lot of people around the league were hating on us and they didn't expect us to get this far," said Cory Wethersby.
However, many fans were upset with punt returner Jacoby Jones for a heartbreaking fumble and rookie quarterback T.J. Yates for his three interceptions.
"It was just a mishap,â said Derek Mitchison. âMaybe next year."
