Marcus Morris Headed For the D-League

It's not surprising, since he'd fallen out of new head coach Kevin McHale's rotation, but Houston's first-round pick Marcus Morris is headed for the Rio Grande affiliate in the Developmental League. The former Jayhawk looked good in the Rockets' second preseason game, but has played little in the regular season as he's played power forward in Patrick Patterson's absence.

Morris will work at small forward in the D-League, which seems to be his better fit. In the limited time I saw him, he looked to have the range to play out there.

My question, going forward, is does Morris make sense getting time over Chase Budinger or Terrence Williams? T-WIll has looked much more comfortable this season and Bud has started to find his shooting stroke against Atlanta. Neither, though, has become an impact player for Houston.

Sending him down is a good thing, ultimately, because it'll give him playing time. With the roster so full of intriguing guys, playing time can get sparse and Morris needs to keep on a steady development course. Hopefully, he can get called up and help out at some point this season.
