Houston Astros Vs. Arizona Diamondbacks 8/17/12: Tyrone's Free MLB Baseball ... - Sports Chat Place

After snapping a minor two-game slide the 59-59 Arizona Diamondbacks try building a winning streak on Friday at the 39-80 Houston Astros, a 7-2 loser to the 46-70 Chicago Cubs Wednesday in a rubber match.

Houston measured in the first and final run at Wrigley Field, but two big innings by Chicago, three during the third and two during the fourth, were the difference. The Astros scored on Scott Moore's home run and Brandon Barmes' doubleplay getting in Moore.

Meanwhile Arizona won 2-1 Thursday at the 64-54 St. Louis Cardinals thanks to Chris Young and Paul Goldschmidt back-to-back HRs. The D-Backs had four hits previously in the game.

12-8 Wade Smiley with a 3.02 ERA throws next for Arizona who is just 6-5 in his away appearances. Miley's first three road decisions saw the 51-66 Kansas City Royals, 65-54 Los Angeles Dodgers and 53-66 Miami Marlins accumulate six runs during 19 innings of three losses. Miley also won at the 71-47 Cincinnati Reds and LA in July letting in four runs during 13.2 innings.

However in three May and one August away outing the 52-64 Milwaukee Brewers, 65-53 Pittsburgh Pirates,    52-68 San Diego Padres and 68-49 Texas Rangers wrote in 14 runs, 13 earned, during 24.2 innings for four Miley road defeats. Considering Pittsburgh and Texas put in two runs, one earned, during 13.2 innings Miley has to be a little mad he took losses in both, 4-0 and 1-0. On July 21 Houston fell 12-3 to the Diamondbacks in part due to Miley's excellence. Giving up four hits and a run during seven innings is pretty awesome.

Current Astros are 3-for-20 without an RBI to boot against Smiley so it'll be paramount 1-4 Dallas Keuchel with a 5.29 ERA pitches well for Houston to steal a win. Keuchel is 1-1 at Minute Maid Park beating the 54-64 Cleveland Indians with a complete game and falling to the Pirates by shieldig five runs during six innings. Cleveland lost 8-1 to Houston who has only won Keuchel's last home start as well this season, 6-5 over Milwaukee. Keuchel conceded four runs, half earned, during six innings to take a no-decision. The Astros bullpen imploded on June 28 versus SD wielding six runs during the ninth inning for Houston to fall 7-3 after Keuchel's solid performance.

At the Diamondbacks on July 21 Keuchel was knived for seven runs, six earned, during 3.1 innings. That was the second of four straight losses for Keuchel who Arizona is 5-for-13 with seven RBIs, five Jason Kubel's, against. The D-Backs roll Friday.
