Colorado Rockies Vs. Houston Astros Game 2 5/28/12: Tyrone's Free MLB Baseball ... - Sports Chat Place

The 22-25 Houston Astros and 17-30 Colorado Rockies play a doubleheader on Memorial Day with an early and late start at Coors Field. Colorado was outhammered 7-5 by the scorching 27-20 Cincinnati Reds in an early afternoon game today. The Rockies momentarily tied things up during the second inning on Troy Tulowitzki's home run.

Solo HRs however was a theme as Carlos Gonzalez, Michael Cuddyer, Dexter Fowler and Carlos Gonzalez twice homered for Colorado. Four of Cincinnati's five HRs were also of the solo variety as the Reds scored the only run not to come off a HR during the fourth inning.

Houston continued to jump on the 32-15 Los Angeles Dodgers by scoring the first run during the top of the first on Jed Lowrie's groundout getting Jose Altuve in from third base. For the second straight day however Houston couldn't hold onto a lead falling 5-1 to LA.

The Astros and Rockies send out shaky aces in Monday's second game 0-1 Jordan Lyles with a 5.29 ERA and 1-3 Alex White with a 5.32 ERA. Lyles lost his last start at home to the 29-18 Texas Rangers 6-1 getting bloodied for six runs during five innings. Lyles' first two outings saw Cincinnati and the 25-24 Philadelphia Phillies edge visiting Houston by a run. Lyles yielded six runs, four earned, during 12 innings.

Colorado is just 1-for-6 with one RBI on Lyles. Chris Nelson walked with the bases loaded for the only Rockies RBI versus Lyles who gave up two runs to Colorado during 1.1 innings on Sept. 23-24 at Minute Maid Park. The Rockies piled in two runs during 0.1 innings to beat Lyles 4-2. That affair lasted 13 innings.

White has suffered a decision each and every time this year getting his first win of 2012 at the 26-22 Miami Marlins on May 23. Previously White was 0-3 including one loss at Coors 4-0 to the 21-29 Seattle Mariners who scooped in three runs, two earned, during seven innings on him.

The Astros are 10-for-31 with nine RBIs, a handful from Carlos Lee, on White. Houston housed five runs during 4.2 innings against White last season on Sept. 22 in a 9-6 win. The Astros also tallied five runs during six innings of an 8-6 Colorado home win. Houston is far-and-away the better team this year. However the Astros are 6-15 on the road while the Rockies are 9-14 at Coors Field. Colorado we have a problem.
