Kevin Sumlin Hire At Texas A&M Earns A 'B' From Sports Illustrated

Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel is handing out final grades for FBS college football programs that made new coaching hires this season, and Texas A&M is among the top-rated institutions for making a move to grab Houston's Kevin Sumlin. The move earned A&M a "B" from Mandel, and by his own explanation, it seems the only reason the hire wasn't an "A" was because Sumlin plans on running the same air-attack offense at A&M, now a member of the SEC:

Multiple schools sought the 47-year-old, who led the Cougars to two Conference USA division titles and a 12-1 regular-season record in 2011. He's unquestionably a polished head coach. The concern here is that Sumlin appears set on running much the same wide-open passing offense he did at Houston in the defensive-dominated SEC.
