It's getting crazy here in college football recruiting season. As we get closer to the Feb. 1 National Signing Day, prospects are changing and rethinking decisions constantly.
That worked out for Texas A&M this week when Mesquite Horn cornerback De'Vante Harris switched his commitment from Oklahoma to the Aggies via a message on his Facebook page. Harris is a four-star prospect according to Rivals.com and has a chance to play right away in nickel packages, though he's got a slight build at 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds.
However, there are plenty of positive reports on the talented corner who has a reported 4.4. 40-yard dash time.
The really interesting part comes from this story on AggieYell.com, discussing his decision to switch to A&M. Do you know who made a big impact? None other than #AgSwagg leader, QB Matt Davis. That plus new head coach Kevin Sumlin and new defensive coordinator Mark Snyder helped sway Harris over to A&M.
Harris makes the ninth four-star or better prospect to commit to Texas A&M this season, marking the best Aggie recruiting class since Dennis Franchione roamed the sidelines. That has them ranked with the No. 9 class by Rivals.com, the first time A&M has been in the Top 10 since 2005. That season, the Aggies welcomed future NFLer and five-star recruit Martellus Bennett along with eight four-star guys.
